*****Rear End Assembly Swap Question*****

Hi all, I am hoping someone can help me with my current issue. I have a 2001 F250 7.3. Long story short I blew out my rear end(ring teeth shot through the diff cover) so I picked up a used rear end assembly and swapped it in. The rear end that came out of the truck from the previous owner was a Dana 80. The swap went great until I went to mate the current rear driveshaft to the new rear end (Sterling S136H). The Sterling rear end needs a 331 U joint, and the driveshaft needs a 330 U joint. After many trips to many different auto parts stores I've come to the conclusion they simply don't make this combination U joint. The Dana 80 is a F350 rear end so I figured the original driveshaft must be a F350 driveshaft, so I ordered a used F250 driveshaft......SAME U-JOINT PROBLEM. I am looking into possibly swapping my yolk or figuring out what driveshaft would work. I have a 142" Wheel base. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You may have to go to a drive line shop & have them custom build You a drive line.

I've had that suggestion, but do you know an estimated cost? I paid $300 for a complete rear end assembly and I'm thinking a custom built anything is going to be at least that, if that's the case I might as well buy another complete assembly.

If You can get the correct replacement near $300 bucks then that would be best.

I guess I was wondering if I can swap the yolk in the rear end? If so does anyone know the specs on the S136H yolk? I know the pinion shaft on the Dana 80 is almost double the size of the S136H pinion shaft

Something seems amiss here, I've never seen a D80 in a F250. That's a dually rear end in this era truck if I remember right.... A sterling is standard for sure.

Also what brand u joints are these numbers?? Usually F-250/350 superdutys of this age use 1410 u joints for the rear driveshafts; and 1350 for the fronts... Do you have any pictures??

post a pic of your current driveshaft and we can give you some other yoke or flange options. a pic of the Dana 80 yoke or flange would also be helpful

agreed, something is not kosher.
the dana 80 is not a F250 axle.
and the F250 uses the same driveshaft as the f350 single rear wheel of the same configuration. if the F250 driveshaft you got does not work, you either got the wrong axle or wrong driveshaft for the F250.
