So I've been doing some reading up on tuners and programmers. Anyway my real question is if running my DP tuner all the Time (after my truck warms up) in the Highest setting is going to eventually harm my engine. I rarely tow. And if I do it's no more then 9000 pounds. so far at least.
I don't know which tuner it is. But I know it's a DP cause it says it on it, but it only has 3 positions, stock. 80 HP and 140 HP. I BELIVE.
After startup I switch it over to the highest setting. Monitor my gauges and Egts. run about 7-800 on the freeway.
I don't run the middle setting because sometimes the pedal goes dead randomly. (Doesn't ever do it in stock or high. ) I don't trust it in 80

140 hp tunes are for playing not to be ran all the time. The tuners don't tell us how they get the power gains, but it involves timing and fuel. I would remove it and send it to DP and get some new tunes, also have the 80 redone since it is not working on your truck.
if your truck is stock, you will only see around 60-80 hp increase in 140 tune because that is all the injectors will deliver.
i agree with the post of contacting DP about returning the chip, it sounds like the 80 econo tune is corrupted.
i run my 02 in 80 econo 99.99% of the time. the only time it gets put back to stock is if my daughter uses the truck, because she has a bit of a lead foot.
All I can add is that I've just installed a DP tuner F6 with all the tunes pre loaded & it's absolutely fantastic, my truck is totally stock but it now takes off like a scalded cat. I've played with most of the tunes from 40-140hp & even if it isn't making those numbers, the difference is night & day. I'm not that easy to impress either as my last truck was a 450hp Roush supercharged F150 & I don't think my dually is much slower now!
As has been said you don't know for sure what you have, so speak to Jody & take his advice, I'd guess he has a record of your truck/tuner from the vin.
