I see that the 99-03 tuner for the PSD has three settings....70, 90, & 110 HP i think. Why would everyone wanting to get a chip not just run the max HP setting? I would like to get one for better gas milage and maybe more pulling power but i pull rarely. Anyway, which of the settings is for milage....towing....or the best overall setting?
Depends on the tuner you have, and what the recommendations for it are. For example I have the Predator. It actually has four settings. High alttitude (not for towing) Towing mode 40HP, Tow/ performance 60HP(this is the mode I run 90% of the time best fuel economy and performance together) the 85HP performance setting, and the 110HP extreme setting. (DO NOT TOW)
This is why they multiple settings and why they do not run one for all applications. The tuners also change the shift points and timing as well as the torque applied. Just like a race car should not pull a trailer, different kinds of power for different reasons.
I personally like the predator yes. But the SCMT tuner is a good choice too. Stay away from the hypertech. I cannot say much about the edge tuner. I do not know a whole lot about it other than I have not heard any real bad things about it.
