Intermittent ABS light

As the title reads… I've noticed a pattern of it coming on after hitting bumps sometimes. I suppose it's a wheel speed sensor or such… Is there a way to pull the code or something? What do you guys recommend?

I just had the same issue fixed about a month ago on my '03 E150. it was the left front wheel sensor. it would flicker on/off for a couple weeks then one day it just stayed on. I took it tom my mechanic and he hooked up their computer and it came up as the left front sensor. it wasn't expensive to replace, I think under $100.00.

My experience has been 9 out of ten times it's the wiring and not the sensor. Hitting bumps causing it to come and go makes me even more suspicious of a wiring issue. The rear wheel speed wiring seems to be more exposed to the elements and likely to fail. The wire loom all along the diff and over to the left frame rail is where I've found a number of breaks.

I took it to the Ford dealer today because of transmission problem (see other post) and their code scanner indicates the ABS module requires replacement.

Quarter million mile gremlins haunting me... Autotrader here I come.

I'm thinking I'll go GM on my next van. My closest buddy Is a 15year GM technician. I can't find anybody willing to take my money to work on this Ford. (Except the dealer, which is beyond my cash flow)...

GM doesn't make a V10 van but I bet their 8L Vortec would suffice... Can I sign my new Gold FTE Membership to someone here?

I hope GM threw out the plastic intakes in the vans, the doghouse is too hot for it and when they start leaking it's $1500 to fix it, Ford has sense enough to use aluminum in their vans, might want to rethink it.

The ABS light on my van has had the same issue for the last 10 years, I just ignore it.

There are a number of things that can just be ignored with these vans. Dealer may want to replace the ABS unit and that could be the problem but at the same time, you'll stop just fine without doing anything about it. If you want maximum braking performance in the utmost emergency situation, then yeah maybe you ought to fix it. But you'll probably be fine just leaving it alone.

I can't vouch for the V10, but the 5.4 and 4.6 V8s can run a long time with all kinds of random codes and issues popping up.
