Went through this with my brother's 91 F150 had to get a bonded title for it.
Hopefully the original owner doesn't want it back otherwise you are out all your money.
Where did you buy it from that there is no tittle??

Does your state even require a title? Rhode Island doesn't require a title for a vehicle older than the 2001 MY as long as it has a previous registration. Dig around the glovebox and see if there's an old registration in it.
Then, you'll have to contact the company you bought it from, have them fill it out with you, then call Georgia DMV to see what else you'll need to get the title in your name.
Other than that, If you paid a good amount of money to the tow company, I'd probably take them to small claims court and make them pony up the money you spent and give the truck back to them.
No company, is allowed to sell a vehicle with out a clear title application being filled out and sent to the DMV. There are some states which do not require a title, like GA, but I believe the car has to be older than 1965 or something like that, basically and antique, only then can plates be bought in your name with the bill of sale.
There are companies out there that will get you a title for the truck, but you're looking around $1000 and up.
