I have a 2011 Ford F-350 with 6.7L I have had cooling issues when pulling a trailer up a grade it heats up where it hadn't in the past. I had it in the shop 4 times before it went out of warranty and they changed the oil cooler and thermostat. The last time it was in the shop was November which it was to cold out to duplicate problem. I went to California last month and now it's heating up on just about every grade and now it's out of warranty when it should have been fixed last year. I'm guessing it's the water pump because when I changed the antifreeze there was metal shavings in it. I told my dealer about it and they said it was probably from manufacturing. I haven't called dealer yet because I think it should be covered under warranty since the problem was never fixed after being in the shop last year!

Metal shavings are never good. I would start getting your documents in order and then calling ford. Best of luck.
If this issue was bought to the attention of Ford service before the warranty period was out and the problems you are having now are the same then it should be covered as warranty repair.
You may have a fight ahead of you but confident if you kick it up the ladder maybe past the dealership and straight to Ford customer relations you should be ok.
Sounds like a water pump. Is the upper radiator hose scalding hot while the lower one is relatively cool?
I read on a forum that a guy had similar problem and it was water in the fuel filter and I changed mine and it pulled like a champ! There was water in the filter under the hood!

Ahh.. Are you sure it was water in the filter under the hood?? The water filter separator is in the filter under the driver. How do you know. I would hope no water every made it passed the first filter. Water in FUEL is a big expensive problem.
I would also inspect the cooling stack (between the radiators and other heat exchangers) for debris like leaves, grass and dirt that tends to collect and restrict airflow. Also make sure that all of the rubber air deflectors around the grill inlet and under/behind the front bumper are present and properly secured. These are vital to cooling system performance by preventing air from going around and bypassing the coolers.
Also, I don't think I read any mention of warning indicators, which gages read high and if there are any codes related to this concern. Remember, an overheating transmission will also cause an engine derate event and turn the cooling fan on high. But, I will assume that all the attention to the cooling system is for a reason.
