Time for new fluids
Time for new fluids
I Posted this in the oil and lube section but got no replies. I've got 105,000 mi on my 95 4.9L f-150 and its alil past due on some new fluids. The Coolant is all set but i need to replace the trans and differential fluid. I've got a mazda 5 speed and 8.8 inch rear with Traction Lok limited slip. I know that needs the additive but what kind of lube do you recommend for the rear and what additive do you recommend? I've heard that the mazda uses ATF, how come and what kind should i use?

The rear end uses 80W90 & if you have the limited slip then you need to add a 4 Oz bottle of whats called Friction Modifier , Ford has it as do most auto parts stores . The M5OD uses Dexron , Whatever the newest is , Dexron III I believe . Check your owners manual on the rear axle lube , it may give a range of weights to use , But 75W or 80W will do fine .
