how hard should a C6 shift if its behind a 390fe, using type F fluid, mine is shifts good but it seems soft, the reason I even bring it up is I have been told it should be hard with type F. thanks in advance.
Yes, you should have a very firm shift if the tranny is prior to late 76. In late 76 they went to the anti-clunk design with a wave plate, different clutch material and the use of mercon oil.
You can firm up the shift a little by turning the mod. valve in a few turns. If no change in a few turns turning it further probably won't help.
