Brake Line Question

My brake lines on my '72 i'm converting to 4X4 are totally trashed. I want to replace the steel lines from the master cyliner to the rotors. So is it best to run the steel lines alone the front axle kinda like the rear lines, or will the get banged up too much down there and should it be better to run them along the crossmember? And do most parts stores just sell the unflared tubing that I can bend and flare as I need it?

Thanks,

Marlon

You can run them on the frame, depending on what axle you use to convert it. I ran it on the axle, and only had to have 1 drop hose instead of 2, if you run it on the crossmember. Here, Carquest carries lots of lines preflared, and with fittings that are different lengths, so the whole cutting and flaring thing is all but gone, but you may not have that luxury, so doing it yourself is entirely possible. I have done some of my plumbing both ways. Good luck, Ted
