I found a torque spec (on a Ford site) for the spark plugs on the web saying 160 - 168 inch lbs.
I then contacted Ford and they said 71 - 106 inch lbs!
So ..... what do I do? Both answers are from Ford but which is right? Does anyone have the correct torque spec for this engine (early single valve V10)?
Also, I want to confirm the gap .... I "think" is should be .052 - .054 or .056
Sorry, just didn't know where to put it ... didn't know if the F53 should be posted as a super duty or large truck or ??? Although I had used this forum for my old F150, I didn't know there was a V10 area.
Not to worry, looks like the Super Duty folks are on it. I know some of those heads are fragile, so you are correct to ask and ask again before swapping those plugs. Good luck.
This is our "baby" ... when I met my wife, she had never traveled. She was paralyzed from the shoulders down in a diving accident when she was 12 ... she is 37 now. She needs care ever 4 hours. When I met her I got the idea of reworking on old RV so I could do her care while we are away from home. Since medical items are so expensive, I designed an built my own lift, cut a new door, gutted the inside, built a personal lift inside and them installed a hospital bed on rails. They wanted $25k just for the outside lift ... I only paid $18K for the RV!
