Leaf springs?

Leaf springs?
Heard this rattling around the Leaf spring. Found the source; it was this loose metal peace. Just wondering if it was mandatory on replacing since eventually I'm going to replace both Leaf springs in about 2 months??

Hmm looks like it's had a heavy camper on it for a long time, or something heavy in the bed.
Yeah if you replace with the same spring, then you should have them.
Well it works as an over long spring.
