I was wondering if anyone knew of sources for build numbers. I've got an '02 Ranger FX4 and didn't know how many they made. Not that I think it's especially important or a limited-production vehicle, just curious...
I am interested as well because I have a 5-speed 4-door Explorer and I would like to see the production numbers on them in '02. I have never seen any other 5-speeds in person and I only found 2 for sale when I was searching.
When the wife and I went to look at Explorers, we wanted a 2-door with a 5 speed. We're in St. Louis, and the dealer had to buy one from Springfield (200 miles away) because that was the closest one they could find.
I see the same thing. I've only seen 2 other FX4 Rangers since I've owned mine, and that was a year ago. I've seen quite a few F150 and F250 and F350 FX4's, but very few Rangers. Maybe the 24k price tag scared them away...
Anybody found any build number resources yet? I am also looking for a site with the technical specs of my '02 Explorer (gear ratios, towing capacity, etc). Ford doesn't have the '02 data anymore and they also don't make the manual Explorer 4-door anymore. I am wondering if my manual tranny is the same as that found in the new 4.0 Rangers. It seems to be geared a little higher, but I don't know that for sure.
