EEC Chip for 94 F-250 w/ 460

My 94 F-250 has stock 460 with K & N airfilter kit added. Stock exhaust system. Would like to know if there is an aftermarket EEC chip which would improve either performance or gas mileage. Both would be nice, but not sure if that is possible. Currently getting about 10 MPG. My main driving area is 5,500 - 8,000 feet above sea level, so an added factor. Do not want to spend $1,000's on an improvement. Thanks for your help, Stephen.

The only thing a chip is going to improve is the thinness of your wallet. You can do the same thing by advancing the base timing a few degrees.

That K&N is a known hot air intake, considered a step back and waste of money on this and many other Ford truck forums.

The factory exhaust, especially the torpedo converter, are known to hinder flow and performance.

Using the term 460 and better MPGs are mutually exclusive. It's not going to happen no matter what you do. Invest in a cheap beater for daily driving chores.

Nope. Best thing to do is just set your base timing to 12*BTDC and cut the air horns out of the intake.

Free up that exhaust system and hold it at WOT every chance you get. You will not get decent mileage out of a big block like that in a truck without either some serious areo work weight reduction to the max and driving like there is a egg under your foot. Chips are a huge waste of your money on these trucks.

The only problem with gas mileage on a truck with a 460 is its owner's unrealistic expectations. It's never going to be good, and a lot of that probably begins with what you feel "good" is. The only thing a magic chip will do is lighten your wallet as someone has already mentioned. Spend money and make it flow better or spend money on fuel, those are our two best options.
