Hi, I have a 1968 F250 with a 360 3 speed on the tree and last year the truck barely got in first gear, sometimes it would go in and now it's grinding the fly wheel. Is that because the linkage has to be adjusted? Or is my first gear is gone?... If it's adjustment is all that under the truck or in the column? The truck shifts into all other gear fine only fort is the problem? Clutch pedal feels good.
Thanks
Does it shift into gear when the truck is off? If it does then you have to (A) adjust clutch. (B) inspect clutch linkage for damage. (c) replace clutch and pressure plate.
Also you should check out cab mounts, they can affect your clutch adjustment.
It could be the pivot clutch arm bracket that's a common problem for many of these old trucks.
If the clutch pedal keeps getting lower to engage the clutch not to grind more noticeable when stopped trying to put it into gear 1st or into reverse.
But I think it's time you buy a manual so you can learn to do some of the eases stuff.
Crawl under that truck and have a look at the clutch linkage and find a threaded adjuster..
