A new neighbor is looking for a blue bug screen like the one on our truck.
Hello! I am here trying to help a new neighbor. He saw our truck and has been looking all over for a blue bug screen for a 1979 F250. We aren't ready to part with ours (our kids are in love with this truck, so there is hope for the future), so I poked around the internet and found this thread. I know the original post is from 2016, but good replies here so I thought I'd try. Thanks in advance.
I found a Deflecta Shield and another named one at a vendor at "The Factory", a antique/indoor antique mall in Verona, Va. tagged at $5 each, 62" long, one is near 4" tall, other is nearer or over 6" tall. Some scratches, they'll polish out. Was more there, but these were best two. Not going to let these go, but just saying to keep eyes open.
My '77 had a red one in 1986, I cracked it and replaced the insert with clear, reused the aluminum channel. Was late in the summer of '86 I added AC as could not get any air through vents. Then, after adding the AC, maybe a couple years, I removed the bug shield as the clear broke ... first time driving without it, I was amazed .... fresh air through vents. The clear one doesn't hardly show up in pics.

I doubt I'll ever put one back on it. Might use a clear paint protection film on the hood though.
I have a smoke bug deflector I will sell you. Plus shipping of course. I am in Ontario , Canada. Check out the shipping , it may be a bit high, but then you will know if it’s worth it.
Hello, I know it's an old forum but, do u still have the bug shield for sale?
Did they make a wind deflector that mounted to the top of the hood, looking at a truck tomorrow and noticed some holes in the hood
I know, posted long ago, but in case anyone is curious, those holes look like might at one time have had a short abreviated one on there purchased from a truck stop. Lots of old long narrow nose tractor trailers used to run them.
You can do amazing things with Lexan. We have a plastic supplier not too far away. Regal plastics, saw samples of more than 90 degree bends in the lexan. Maybe you could supply a drawing and Regal could bend up something for you, no need for the old style aluminum brackets. I have just bought flat sheets of lexan from them to line a kitchen alcove were the range sits. Way easier to work with than plexiglass. Regal Plastic: Leader in Plastic Sheet, Rod & Tube Distribution. Just the place I bought from. Probably reginal.
Yeah, we have a local glass / mirror shop that does home stuff, as well as vehicle glass, and they also deal in lexan and plexiglass. I like the lexan MR-10 used on motorcycle windshields, virtually unbreakable and hard coated so it looks like glass, scratch resistant too.
