Not a fear of mine on a secure website. You really can't get away from it these days. Just because you withhold your SSN doesn't mean other organizations don't have it all over secured servers. Maybe just cause I was in the army and remember shouting my SSN across a room of other degenerates in basic training that got me over my concerns. Asking someone to find an easier way to give away $500 is probably not likely to garner any sort of official response either.

Exactly right! This reminds me of when I got access to my checking account years ago online. It was a Friday night and my buddies were all showing up for the usual debauchery. I was logging off when my first buddy showed. He was aghast that I had online access to my account saying he couldn't believe all my info was online like that and that someone was likely going to steal all my money. (Too many hacker movies for him...) I then explained to him that all his info was also online (he used the same bank) and the only difference was he didn't have access to his... LOL
My favorite is the dude that blocks out his license plate for pictures he posts online. I'm like, dude, do you not drive your vehicle off your property, because that plate is open for everyone in the world to see while you're out.

I have no problem giving my SSN out on a secure site, I work in IT and I understand how it works and the unlikely scenario of your SSN being stolen.
However, I'm one of those guys who blurs out the license plate if I'm selling something on Craigslist, etc. It never hurts to be too cautious. To each their own.
EAA membership allows to generate a pin but does not have 2017 SD as an option. Does that matter? Or do I have to wait until closer to the release date to generate a pin?
Thanks

Once you have the Pin you can use that towards a new SD purchase. There are only a few vehicles which do not allow you to use X-Plan (The Ford GT will likely be one of them), but most vehicles are applicable.
We don't do anything with the pin until we report the unit sold. On an order, we just put an "X" in the order type and it comes ordered as an X plan (more importantly to me, it shows me what X plan is without having an actual invoice). So if you come in to order a truck and don't have a pin it won't affect anything.
Can X plan pins be used on vehicles sitting on the lot?
My daughter finally came through with a pin for me and I was thinking of picking up an Edge for my wife with it since the SD's won't ready for awhile.
Never had a X-plan to use before, so have no clue how it works.

Yes, x-plan pins can be used for vehicles on the lot.
