Rear shock replacement question

Going to put new shocks on the rear. I will need to cut the old ones off at the upper mounts. Question can I just get new boots to mount the new ones or will I have to get new shock mounts?

the mount that is riveted to the frame or the shock eye hole? the shocks come with everything you need.

The top mount that is riveted to the frame. Is that a bolt that goes through the shock or is it a stude that is part of the bracket?

That's a stud that's part of the bracket. Is the nut seized or rounded off or the like?

heat it up and use some PB blaster or something. apply it a few times with in 24 hours and try to remove it with a impact. or grind the rivits off the frame on the outside. and get a new shock mount. I just did that but the bed was off. Mine were junk and rusted in parts.

Yeah I was afraid of that. I don't know if there is enough of the nut left to get it off.

Try an extractor socket -- Irwin Bolt-Grip, etc. Plus heat, PB-Blaster, etc.

Looking last night, it looks easier to grind off the rivets and put new brackets on. They are in pretty bad shape anyways. Might as well do it now instead of later when it brakes. Looks like the brackets are only $14 or so.
