EGR/DPF delete question
I was looking for some delete kits for my uncles 6.4.. We were at the job site last week and he backed up the truck to to our skid steer to transfer some fuel. He was obviously in regen mode because of the horrible eye watering smell coming out of the exhaust and flames coming from the tailpipe. Something was clearly not right. It's an '08 with 150,000 miles, but I expressed my concerns after I saw 6inch flames shooting out of the exhaust. He hasn't had any problems yet, abut I got him on board with deleting the EGR/DPF. Being a diesel enthusiast I've done a lot of research and read a lot of literature on the topic, but I have a couple questions...
I was looking at an H&S delete kit, which comes with the tuner and exhaust, but no EGR delete kit. It claimed in the description that it turns off the EGR so there is no need to unbolt and disconnect it.. Is this true, does it simply work that way? Or would it be better to get the sinister EGR delete kit as well?
Just looking for some input and knowledge on how that would work, any help is much appreciated. Feel free to tell me your experience on deleting, or if any problems may have arose from it. Thanks in advance!
