Ignition torn out from thief
I thought I was dead in the water since I could not figure out a way to start it with the key or a screwdriver. I called a tow truck to take to a dealer close by in hopes of getting it fixed and back on the road.
When the tow truck driver arrived he spent about 20 minutes trying to get it started. Luckily he was successful and I was able to drive it home without delay.
For those stuck in my situation, you can start these trucks even with a destroyed ignition. If you look up in the top rear of the ignition cylinder housing, you will see a gear. You need to move the cogs in the gear toward the front of the truck to turn it on and have to overcome a spring force to engage the starter. It takes some strength and finesse, but it is doable. I hope this helps someone else get back on the road in the future.
Now I have to deal with my insurance to get it fixed. Since they couldn't start it (thank you DP Tuner), the thieves stole my stereo, tablet, Bluetooth OBD dongle and a few other items.
My ignition housing is damaged beyond repair. Does anybody know the part number for a replacement? As well as the procedure to replace it? I've got a feeling, I need to pull the steering wheel and part of the column to get it out.
