Is there any adjustability in the doors of my '05 supercab? It's the passenger side door.
When closed, the upper portion at the front is recessed in (in relation to the quarter panel) and the lower rear sticks out by about as much in relation to the rear door.
From what I've researched, I think a new weatherstrip would take up the little bit of slop that exists when the door is closed, but the alignment issue seems like something else.
It's garage night, so I put it on the list of things to tinker with.
Has it always been that way? If it seems to be getting worse or changing, check the hinge pins for wear, then the mounting hardware for signs of loosening. Move on to the door and cab areas, use a light and look into the shine of the paint for areas that may be dented or bending. If all that looks good, loosen the hardware on the hinge that looks the worst out of alignment (top or bottom) get the front of the door straight and aligned and finish up at the back using the latch hardware. Make small adjustment and use a magic marker to keep track of where you've been. If the door it's self is wracked (twisted) you can close it on a piece of scrap wood to square it up. There is some skill involved in all this, if it's your first time, just go slow.
Thanks Rusty.
In hindsight, I should've named this thread "How do you make your door whistle while driving down the road?"
Anyway, yes the passenger door has always had the weird skew. I did steps similar to what you described and was able to get it better, but I'll need to buy new weatherstrips next time.
I'm actually gonna reset the door to how it was before the adjustment because the road noise just too much.
Ok I think I have all the door stuff that you need and
also anyone else with a crew cab. So I have everyone covered.
I would keep that block of wood handy that Rusty said to use.
Would be a pain to have it so loose that once you have it right
just opening the door throws it off.
I fould all that stuff one day when I was browsing the DVD.
It even has things like what the bed dimensions should be.
That way after it's been hit you can check to see that you have it right.
Your welcome.
Please let me know how it goes. I need to do a front
passenger door thanks to a floor jack the dropped the
truck on a tire and knocked the alinement out of whack.
Hey Sean,
Can the rest of us get a look at those pdf's? The urethane cab mount bushing install has accentuated a squeaky back door that I always thought was the back seat.
Here are some I think. FTE has been giving me fits sense the last update when it comes to uploading things.
This one only took 5 tries to get the files to upload and unlike a photo you can't resize a PDF.
I think we are well past the tenth time that the eggheads in the IT department have
played with the software that FTE runs on. They seem to make it worse every time
they screw with it.
Maybe the Eggheads have gone rotten. Noting like the stink of a rotten egg.
