1990 e4od issues
But today while driving after leaving a stop light. My truck started making a load squeaking sound under the can with alittle shudder. So I took it easy down the block towards a parts store. I noticed that it was loosing power in 2nd completely too and that reverse is gone. I was able to drive it home though (15 miles) doing highway speed.
What could it be? Torque converter, sticky valves, parking brake on back of tranny?
Ever since I had the truck, it wouldn't downshift on its own and scaning it, it gives the codes for the solenoid being bad.
if your going to look for a used trans, remember it's a 4wd version (driveline brake instead of t-case.)
try and source a 95-97 version.they have a lot of upgrades over the '89-94 versions.you'll just need a new 4 stud diesel converter and a new 89-94 solenoid pack to put in it.
if you can find an early trans with a ford reman sticker, these have been updated to '95 spec too.
you'll need your radiators trans cooler flushed and you'll need to throw away your aux cooler and replace it.
