I have a few days off coming up and I think I'm going to spend the majority of it working on my pickup. Its an 09 250, 4x4, v10, 86k miles. I plan on changing the plugs/coil pack wires, fuel filter, trans flush, detail, etc. Any thing else I should be doing? I have already flushed/filled the coolant (and put a new thermostat in while it was drained). I have read and saved the plug removal thread. Is there a trans flush/fill thread? From what I am reading, theres an external filter and one in the pan as well. My b-i-l did his 04 (?) and gave me some advice as well. A thread would be great too....and helpful hints. Thanks
X2. I did my '07s shocks at 90k last year. Big difference, stock sticks were defiantly shot.
04 and 09 gassers have very different transmissions. I'd just drop the pan, swap the filter, and refill, you're really not way too far past the 60k service interval. Unless you beat on the truck towing, check the fluid and if it's not burnt or full of crud you'll be ok. If you're really nervous drive it awhile then pull the drain plug and refill again.
I did 30k drain/fills on my 5R110W per the manual, now doing 60k with the updated internal filter.
From looking at the dipstick, its looks pretty decent and doesn't smell. Try not to beat on it either.....new trucks and transmissions are expensive. What about adding seafoam transtune first then drain? Any thoughts on a filter brand. I know most everyone will say motorcraft. Thanks!
Stay away from transmission additives. Just keep the fluid/filter services at or before the recommended interval. No external filter on your rig. Search my and Mark Kovalsky names here for more transmission related subjects.
Dont forget to flush/change brake fluid, power steering fluid, Xfer case fluid and pumpkin juice x2.

I found a write up/thread that deals with the 5r. Thanks again.
Hey man I take care of 6 5.4L trucks for my dad, and one 6.2l. No need to replace the coils, just do the boots and inner coils. Get the Standard HD grey ones. USA made and are top quality. Used Denso once, and they corroded!
I use Autolite Platinum plugs, and OEM filters. I do all fluids every 100k miles or so, and trans filter and fuel filter around 50k. This trucks can take a lot of abuse.
