Actually, that's a good question.
1953 Deluxe Cab Features:
Hardboard upholstery behind the seat, matching the headliner
Door locks on both doors (standard cab on passenger door only)
Inside light with switches on both doors (standard cab inside light and switch on driver's door was optional)
Hardboard door panels
Arm rests on both doors
Locking glove box lid
Passenger sun visor
Stainless trim on drip edge around cab
Stainless trim around wing-glass and on the track between the wing and door glass
"Boomerang" trim on hood
"Teeth" in grille
Dual horns
Later models, I'm not sure which years, had the "Custom" badge below the window.
Edit: Starting in 1955, the deluxe cab became the "Custom" cab.
It's hard to tell if Sean's still has the trim on the drip edge, but the door lock, and the wing glass, and hood trim are there.
My '54 has the same hood boomerang and cab stainless. Without seeing the grill, how did you know his truck is a '53? By the way, my truck has a '56 grill so it really confuses people. Enjoy, Steve
Okay that makes sense. I'm still learning about these trucks and I thought maybe there was something else to look for. Hope you didn't take it as a smart alec remark. I love this site and would have never got my truck done without help and encouragement I got here. By the way, really good looking truck! Steve
hey guys ..thanks for that info effietrucker I didn't know about it being a delux cab ....your right its got those features including a cigarette lighter and ashtray ! yes I've straightened the track rod out but our roads are so bad over here with potholes , tramlines in tarmac from heavy vehicle use I still got to watch it sometimes .....I know the front springs are flattened so will eventually get round to replacing those ...did that with my old landrover made hell of a difference ! are those tyres I've got on crossplies? sounds silly but cant see anything to indicate what they are ?...apart from tubeless ...also is there any kind of adjustment with the bonnet ? it rises slightly on the hinge end as i'm going along the road ..only about an inch ,been an ongoing issue judging from previous paint touch ups ...but you know what ...I love this truck ...makes me smile ....and I love the '50's styling .....
thank you for your kind comments guys .....this is how she came into the UK, apparently originally from the kissimee.area.....which is a nice thought as I've seen the downtown cruise there a few years back
You might want to be careful with those "Belted T/A" tyres.I don't know how long they were available over there, but they stopped selling them over here in the 80's.
