I was wondering how to add some power to my truck.
It's old and seems like it could dish out more. the Motor is in great condition for the year. But seems like it could do a lot better.
Just wondering what upgrade this truck could benefit from?
I have a
1999 F-250 Super duty 5.4l
It's paid and mine, i know some will say go for diesel or buy another truck but it defeats the purpose of my question. I am sure there are upgrade i can do to add let's say between 50 to 150 hp ?
You can always add cold air intakes, or better flowing air filters. Headers, dual exhausts and tuners are probably the easiest ways to get more power out of modular engines.
Back in the day you could add an intake or exhaust system to an engine and get a "seat of the pants" performance improvement, but with these newer (LOL!) engines a tuner is your best bet.
A tuner would help (or be necessary) if you made enough changes elsewhere, such as the traditional intake, cam, heads, exhaust, to operate beyond the capabilities of the stock tune to compensate. A tuner on an otherwise stock engine will probably not gain much, as most engines made today are pretty well matched as a package.
