I bought an engine from a guy. He said the engine was rebuilt but didnt know about the transmission. I pulled the pan to decide it I wanted to put the AOD on my truck seeing as mine has almost 200,000 without a known rebuild.
The fluid does not smell burnt, it smells like an old eraser and pencil shavings.
The fluid looked a little dark to me
Not much grey sludge in the bottom, as my transmission had when looking at the fluid.
looks like water got in while sitting for a while with a nearly empty pan (my guess they drained the when moving and or storing.
My question is what do yall think? based on the following pictures:
How much endplay on the output shaft is acceptable? Up and down movement there is tight but little play. Side to side there is more play than up and down. Maybe I am just paranoid
