I would not go MOOG. Installed a set on my ex, front end was so tight there was no steering return, drove it for 1,000 miles, read a bunch of similar complaints online about MOOG ball joints, re-did the ball joints (isn't that something we all love doing twice) with Ford OEM and all is fine. Have not used XRF so cannot say.
It didn't look possible for a 90 degree fitting to go there without hitting. I know others have done it but there is not that much room on mine. I just take out the little plug, screw in a fitting, grease them then reinstall the plug. It is kind of a pain. I am also amazed that someone got 200k out of any ball joint on an Excursion! My factory joints were loose and done at 100k for the uppers and around 110k for the lowers.

I'm sure they are all the same..As Dave said, They do touch at 1st. Then they don't. I helped mine wear in faster with a grinder. ANY S/D I seen needed a front end rebuilt by 100K as well, MOST sooner.
Had to replace 1st set of oem ball joints at 85K, had the dealer put in Moog greaseble and those are still good at 271K. The rest of the front end is stock and shot and needs to be rebuilt, and with the miles these ball joints have its time to just redo everything and replace with the xrf joints.
If you have factory unit bearings or a lot of miles on them, it might be time to think about those as well. That is not a job you want to do twice either and you are already there when doing the ball joints.
Yep, still have one of them in there, replaced the other one about 5 months ago but didn’t have the time to do all of the needed work. Will now be replacing all steering parts, new rotors and calipers, pads, right unit bearing, ball joints, seals, bump stops, new v codes springs and shocks.
