Advice for starting resealed engine
I took off the LPOP to check and see if there is wear on the timing cover or the gears themselves. I didn't break out a feeler gauge, but the melling lpop gears that were on there look really good. I could not see or feel any wear on them with my fingers so I don't believe that is the issue. I didn't have a good angle, but I tried scraping my finger across the timing cover as well to check for wear or scratches and couldn't feel anything. I know this LPOP was working before tearing things apart.
What I did find however is that I may have put the wrong gasket on the LPOP housing. I remember thinking it seemed too thick but I didn't know for sure. What does the gasket for the LPOP look like, and how thick should it be? There seemed to be about 1/8th or larger gap from the LPOP housing to the timing cover. My gasket kit didn't seem to come with any other gasket that would fit around that LPOP housing, but this gasket leaves a pretty large gap.
I'm going to see if I can find a gasket at O'reillys or something and compare. Otherwise, I may just use the Motorcraft RTV I still have when I did the oil pan.
Edit: I'm going to start a new thread now that this topic has changed to a low pressure issue. Thanks for the help everyone for the other questions I had!
