Wheels and Tires

Hi All!

I am going to put factory 18"s or 20"s on my Excursion. I have the Modded C's rear and the V's up front. I leveled off the front with a 2" shackle to the rear of the leaf. I may change to X's this summer but that remains to be seen. ($$)

Given this set up can anyone definitively tell me if the 20"s will fit or should I stick with the 18"s? I am aware of the offset issues with the newer wheels. I have the hub centric wheel adapters on the way.

Thank you all!!

Keith

The wheel size does not matter at all ( unless going smaller & the brakes do not fit ) Only the off set (back spacing) & the TIRE size will come into play.

The question is only how tall of a tire do you want? The wheel diameter doesn't matter (to a point)!

I put 33x12.50-20 on mine with stock suspension @85k miles, and the only (minor) rub I had was at full lock on the spring.

So as long as you have the backspacing corrected with the spacers, you'll be able to go with a 34-35" tire for sure.

IMO, I would not go with factory 20" on your set-up (snowplow).

20" requires spacers, spacers will put additional stress on the wheel bearings (primarily front).

The weight of the plow and additional stress of the weight (and where it is distributed) on spacers = PROBLEMS.

EVEN THOUGH I agree fully with no spacers. I don't like them for such a heavy truck. He's adding Summer tires SO I don't think he'll keep the plow on ??

Unless I am blind (possibly) I read nothing in the OP about summer tires.

I'm pretty sure he runs snow tires on the stock 16's in the winter like I do. I could be wrong but I think I read that previously. So I think this would be a summer only thing.

EDIT: Somebody else already pointed this out, i just skimmed...my bad.

Summer tires only. Plowing is with factory rims with 4 studded snows.

Thank you.. I'll be going with the factory take offs. So what ever the factory options are is what I would end up with. Sounds like I will be fine sticking with those.

Yes, you will be fine with any of the factory 20" tire offerings with your setup.
