I have a 1989 f150 and both left and right turn signals stop working at the same time, but the flashers still work. Checked fuses, new flasher relay and new turn signal switch. Turn signals still don't work, but flashers still work. Thanks for your help.
For clarification an 89 doesn't have a multi function switch. It's turn signal or the column tilt if the pickup has a tilt column.
actually the parts stores call it a multi function switch even though it works different then 92-96s.
80-91s all have the same column that has a horn, turn signal, hazard, brake lights, and cruise control stuff all in it to complete a few circuits. They are a pain in the rear to replace especially if you have the non-tilt column.
Trust me I have ran into the issue before on dad's 90 F150, his old 86 F150, and my brother's 91 F150. It happens easily when you replace the turn signal cam that is why me and my dad from now on will replace the cam and multifunction switch together.

Thanks for the responses. My 89 doesn't have tilt steering and it is a manual trans. Don't know what a multifunction switch is, the turn signal switch seems to have all that built into it also. I have tried 2 new switches and the same result.
So I have power at the relay. I pulled the relay and jumped it across and the turn signals come on but don't flash now. The relay was a new one, could it be bad.
Yes it could very well be a bad relay....I have never seen that the signal relay and the hazard relay are one and the same myself, even the schematic I posted has one for signals and one for hazard.
But yeah, I'd see if you can exchange the relay for another one.
It's not the same flasher, BTW. The hazard flasher is on the passenger side, behind the glove box somewhere. You might have to remove the passenger-side kick panel to get to it. Handy to have when either one goes out, you have the other one to troubleshoot with.
(It's also a flasher, not a relay; a relay uses one circuit to switch another circuit. That's why the lights didn't flash when you removed it and jumped the circuit there; it's the flasher itself that provides the on-off functionality.)
1988 F150 302. No Turn Signals, No horn, no warning chimes.
Just replaced Turn Signal Switch.
Also replaced 552 Signal Flasher in fuse panel previously. Checked all fuses. Still no turn signals.
The horn quit working years ago.
The loss of turn signals and warning chimes occurred after a shop replaced the Ignition Control Module on the distributor 2 weeks ago.
Possible it may be the Turn Signal Flasher ? Did some searching and the flasher is;
1) behind glove box 2) beneath Heat/AC controls. ??
Haven't been able to locate it. Anyone got a pic? Suggestions?
I also lost tilt wheel function after replacing Turn Signal Switch, but will deal with that after getting turn signals working. It is the correct switch for tilt wheels.
Do the emergency flashers and/or brake lights work?
Emergency flasher is on the passenger side under/behind the dash.
Turn Signals, horn, and warning chime only items that don't work.
Only asked about emerg flasher location, b/c someone on another forum site said replacing emerg flasher fixed turn signals? Not sure why that would be? Something about a square or rectangular 5 blade plug controlling both turn signals and hazard lights, and yet 1 can still work? Someone else called it a relay, someone told him it was a flasher?
Still not sure how to locate this "flasher" or if it has any bearing? Is it behind vent work? Accessed thru glove box (looked there)?
