I am having turn signal issues and wonder about this other flasher people mention. I only see the round one in with fuses and I replaced that. So what was the final problem and what fixed it?

If it's the 1992 truck in your profile, there's another flasher button on the other side of the box; you can't see it, you have to reach to feel it. But that other one is for the emergency flashers. The turn signals are controlled by the one you can see.

What sort of issues are you having?

turn signals

My 92 has no turn signals but the four-way flashers work. I replaced the flasher unit and the rear tail light bubs. The rear bulbs were strange, the bulbs were half-black looking but the wires inside were intact. I need to check the brake light switch next and I will replace the turn signal switch since I am slowly fixing my truck up and plan on keeping it. I did pull fuses and had one that was bad but it was in the bottom accessory spot.

I replaced the turn signal switch and that wasn't it. I looked and found that flasher on the back and I noticed the wires going to the flasher are all loose on the front so I pulled the back flasher out and of course a wire came out with it. I wanted to take the fuse box out enough to see what I am doing and that wouldn't happen, its to tight to wiggle it out. So I stopped because my back was aching and I'm rather large and that working under the dash stuff was too much fun. I have to push that wire back in and the flashers back on. I did have power to the front flasher so I most likely didn't need to mess with the back flasher. after I put this back together my last shot is the front turn signal bulbs. The flashers both go into the same slots? maybe the back plugs into the slots on the right and the front goes into the left? its not easy to see.

Bliss

I finally managed to pop in the flasher wire that came loose and very carefully put the flashers in. A miracle! I now have turn signals and didn't have to take the front ones apart.
I think when I put in the flasher unit in before I might have pushed the wires right out the back. The connectors are kind of loose and make you wonder about them. I imagine that the back tail lights needed the new bulbs. I am happy I made it all work.

Good to hear. Yeah, I'm a pretty skinny guy, but it's still tight and d@mn uncomfortable working under there.

It could be that that loose terminal had been pushed out of the socket some time ago, and was making only marginal contact with the terminal pin on the flasher button for some time. This would cause high resistance in the circuit, which could explain why the rear bulbs were burned out, or at least looked burned.

Brake lights?

Does anyone know if my break lights would be affected by my multifunction switch? I replaced my turn signal cam a while back and got new tail lights and my blinkers dont flash in the rear and my brake lights remain on as though i have my petal pressed but it not pushed in

yes. brake lights go through the blinker switch. if the switch is bad, they either will not work at all, or stay on.
