i'm getting ready to patch a couple small holes towards front of truck bed, my question is i have heard complaints about the patch panels not matching the original bed, the truck i am working on is a 68 ranger, does anyone have a preference to where to get a patch panel they are happy with? what company's patch panel is spot on?
i just replaced some of the bed floor in my 67 swb. from in front of fenderwells to the front end of the bed .imao do not use the panels from lmc. the ribs DO NOT match with anything. if i could do it over i would go to the junkyard and have them cut out what i would need to fix my floor. i am not sure about any other companys patch panels. good luck with your truck.
I bought a patch I think from Dennis Carpenter. I had to reform it to match it did not match at all. Lucky for me my patch was only 3 1/2 wide so I took a 4x4 put it in the truck bed and draw lines from the bed floor onto the 4x4 then I measured the angle and depth of the rib,set my circular saw blade depth and sawed it out then the 4x4 that is.Then cut it out layed it on the bed floor till it matched then put the 3 1/2 strip of patch panal and c clamped and hammered it to match the contour on the 4x4. It worked pretty awesome.
