So, I've got my trailer the way I want it, but have an interesting problem. When the trailer is loaded my TC, in its electronic wisdom, thinks I'm going to back into something. Can I kill the messenger?
Although we do not have a tow package, nor do we have the back up camera or sensors.. I want to say it might have something to do with back up camera (tail gate)/warning sensors (bumper) when the trailer is hitched to the van. If you have the touch screen, there should be an options to adjust this. But again, we have the cut rate basic van without all these comforts, so I haven't a clue.
While I lucked out in getting the XLT model, I did not want or get the touch screen, but I got the back up camera. And I may be being a bit stupid here in that I have not consulted the manual, yet. My hauls have been short and the buzzing has not bothersome; but I know that if I was making a long run I'd grow very tired of the warning.
I did not get the hitch with my van, but I did get the wiring and there probably is some way to shut off the backup eye. Something to think about.
I do believe you can turn it off (each time) with the d pad on the steering wheel. Whenever you hear the beeping look at your message center. There should be an up and down option to turn off the reverse sensing. As I mentioned, it will turn back on next time you go into reverse.
