Fairly sure that is 1/2 of the hatch sensor system.

My Door Ajar problem was my back hatch. The back hatch has door switches on both sides , which is one on each latch mechanism. My problem was the passenger side of the latch on the back hatch. I was able to determine by closing all the doors with the key out of the ignition and wait for the dome lights inside to time out. When they go off open the the back hatch... If the interior lights do not come back on then it is definitely in your back hatch.

I find if I wait for the inside lights to time out and I open a door and the lights come back on that is not my problem door.

To the OP, that entire assembly (handle to latch including the cable) is $60 from Autonation Ford White Bear Lake. Order assembly, when it shows up drill out the rivets and replace the entire assembly. Very easy to do.
