I use torque pro but it does have limits like the egt. Looking at the dashboss as an all in one app.
I am not an apple fan so I need some schooling on the Ipad.
I intend to pick up a used one and was wondering about all the different generations.
I care not about all the usual uses for the Ipad. I just want a monitor screen with enough cahones to handle the OBD stream.
Is there any particular version that is best for use in our trucks and the 6.0?
For your purposes I still think that a much cheaper Droid tablet would be better. What apple app are you looking at that gives you more?
We have a few ipads and minis. Like them because they are simple and just work. The main differences between versions are screen resolution, memory and processor. Our Mini 2 while with older specs does everything just fine.
I would try to find a used iPad Mini. I have an iPhone 6 Plus and the display doesn't scale as the screen size changes; a full-sized iPad would be overkill and not net you anything useful.
I use the Ipad Mini (I think its the 2nd one?) in the mustang, if you want to see more on my set up click the Torque Pro link in my signature, here is a picture of how I have it set up using the Blue Driver app

X2........
I like that the Dashboss can read everything that I want it to plus EGT and fuel pressure. Plus I can e-mail my data logs easily to view on my laptop at home. My IPhone 6 does ok, but I grab my wife's IPad or daughters iPad mini when she's not looking.......
Looked at all the Apple apps and couldn't find any that would give you more data than Torque. I actually went and bought a Samsung Tab just to run Torque for my truck.
There's a 53 page thread on 6.7 Torque PIDs on here and there is a custom 6.7 PIDs list you can download so you don't have to manually input them. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...d-pids-52.html
Just got a screenshot in the Torque Pro thread in the 6.7L forum showing all four EGT sensors...
The 6.0 does not come from the factory with these sensors so you can not read egt and fue psi through the odb2 port. You have to add sensors and there is no way for Torque to read external sensors. Dashboss can read up to 2 external sensors.
Not sure I could handle that blue screen of Jaime's for long. I take it that it's only a data logging page, not a driving to view parameters with?
I use my IPad between my seats, using an short power cord to operate, viewing my 12 parameters I want to view the most while driving.
It's larger enough to see easily, including the alarms set, based on each data parameter.
I would recommend an iPad for this to others before my phone.
