So was just doing a routine inspection on my truck last night ( 94.5 f350 crewcab dually 5 speed) and noticed the shackle in the back drivers side leafe spring rusted through and is pushing on my bed. any tips before i start to replace it.
Welcome to FTE!! How much money do you want to spend? It's much easier to do the shackles with the bed off, but can be done with the bed on. When I did the shackles on my trucks, I did new gas tanks, painted the chassis, changed all the shackles and did new brake lines.
We just did my brothers last month. It was a pain. The bolts were rusted in the shackles and springs so they had to be cut off then pressed out of the springs. My 20 ton press was not maxed out but it did grunt a few times. Soak it in ph blaster for a few days first. Hopefully yours goes smoother than his

THIS.
I had to use my torch to burn the bushings out of the eyes of the leafsprings because the bolts were so seized into place. Then i pounded new bushings into the leafpsrings and all went well.
It's pretty straightforward. Take a good look at the bracket that holds that shackle into place. If the shackle rusted out, chances are that bracket isn't far behind.
