Smoke coming out of rear tire

I have smoke coming out of rear passenger tire. Also it's making noise like rubbing sound, sometimes it squeaks loud when taking off and coming to a stop. Can anyone help me with advice on how to fix and what to look for? Thanks!

Sounds like you have a sticking caliper, time for new brakes.

Inside rear tire is getting gauged out

I took off tire and inspected why smoke coming out. I thoight it would be my caliper. I discovered the inside rim is being dug out by something. I compared it to driver side tire and my brake dust pan sits lower on passenger side. I ran my hand around bottom of dust pan but it felt smooth but it seem like maybe the dust pan is hitting my inside rim. Need to know what things to look for and what causes this. As I'm driving I hear the rubbing noise in rear tire. So I got medal to metal somewhere on inside of rim. I just installed new caliper and pads

do you have rear disc brakes??
If so...you may have had the emergency brake pad come loose and binding?

With or without rear disc brakes then maybe your rear axle seal is leaking gear oil on the brake pads....kinda doubt the dust shield would smoke....maybe?

You got it

You were correct, axle seal leaked and axle running dry. The bearing is shot this caused the axle to shift and that's why I have grinding. So now I have to figure out how to install axle bearing and seal. Help welcome

the alxe half shaft is retained by a "C" clip inside the rear pumpkin housing. In the center of the axle, you take off the sheetmetal cover and drain out the oil. You remove a lock bolt and pull one pin... You push the axle half shaft in 1/8 inch any pop off the "C" clip... you pull the half shaft out of the housing from the outside....... this assumes you have the brake caliper , etc out of the way.

I had to give mine a small tap inwards with a BFH to get the c-clip off. Don't let the gears fall apart once you get the axle out. They will go back together easy enough, but...

I'm stuck getting shaft out to allow me to push axle in to reach clamp. The small shaft that the ends of axle meets just doesn't want to come out

Everything is loose, nothing binding? Are you sure the pin is loosened al the way? It should pull right out of there. Spider gears aren't bound up as in having some pressure on them?

Well I'm going to hit it hard again today. I'm still stuck on getting that little shaft out to get to C clamp. I'm wondering if I have to remove parking brake shoes as well, that's the only other thing I haven't done or can think of. Any other suggestions on how to get this out of way?
