6.0 No power, ?

My f350 6.0 has seem to have lost its power, while I was driving home it would only accelerate at one constant speed, and driving up hill it would not accelerate at all, I also noticed an elevated exhaust temperature..
There are no warning lights or dash lights indicating any problem,
Anyone have any suggestions????

You may still have a code present....stop by an AutoZone to get codes pulled if you don't have a reader....

Did you notice any weird (loud) air noises?

Cracked boot most likely. Do you have a boost gauge of any kind? Did it smoke black out the tail pipe?

no loud noises, no black smoke that I was aware of, I do have a boost gauge, I also replaced a glow rod this morning, cylinder #1, I am not sure what you are referring too when you say cracked boot, if you could, please elaborate , thanks

If you have a boost gauge how was your boost? Did it drop from before? Yuo should really see it going up hills. An intake boot out of the turbo is most common, but it could be any of them. That's why they asked about loud noises. Did it pop off maybe? When going up a hill you should see black smoke out the back.

I found the problem, I must not of had the clamp tight enough at the bottom of the turbo line, it popped off, thanks for the info, you were spot on!!!!
I have another question, this might not be your department but it don't hurt to ask..
I had to replace #1 cylinder glow plug this morning, a code showed up the other day and I took it to auto zone, that's what came up, when I reached down to unplug the glow plug I could tell the thing that plugs into it was bad, it was actually broken and I could see the wire inside, I was thinking about just taking it to a ford dealer and have them replace the other three glow plugs on that side of the motor and replace either one or the complete harness for that side of the motor, am I wasting my money going in that direction ?? What are some options or what would you do..

It's hard to unhook the glow plug harness without breaking it. As far as taking it to a dealer, I would do it myself if I were you. It's not difficult and not expensive. If you aren't comfortable doing it, I would look for a decent shop. Most dealer labor charges are a lot higher than a general automotive mechanic. Since it's just a glow plugs and harness, I don't think a 6.0 wizard would be necessary. Diving into heads or anything else major, you definitely want someone familiar with the 6.0.

I am quite capable of doing it myself, the #1 cylinder was fairly easy to change the glow plug in, but the other 3 on that side look to be a little more difficult, a lot of stuff in the way, do you know if the glow plug harness is for all 8 or does it come left and right to do only 4 ? also that thing was broken with out me even touching it, that might be why it was giving off a code, also my last diesel I noticed when one plug went bad it was not long before another and another would go, that's the reason I would like to just replace the whole shabang

If you have a lot of extra money go to the dealer. I mean a lot. They way over charge for this. I'd let it slid, if the connector was bad that was probably your problem.
