My mechanic put a used 2005 PMC in my 2004 powerstroke. Now tachometer does not work, trans and coolant temp guages don't work and drives as if it is stuck in 3rd. gear. Does it need flashed @ a ford dealer to sync the two together?
First time user of this sight, please bear with me! I took it to this mechanic suspecting a blown head gasket. After he looked at it, he found a crack in the degas bottle and clogged oil cooler. He replaced the degas bottle, oil cooler and did EGR cooler delete and valve delete. When he put it back together he was not getting any power to the injectors. He traced it back to needing a new PCM. This was after he tried a different FICM, which didn't fix the problem.
Also replaced one of the batteries which seems suspicious to me. All help is appreciated!!
You cant use or reprogram a 05-07 PCM on a 03 or 04. The 03-04 are 448k and the 05-07 512k it will start and run but you'll have lots of issues. You need another pcm for a 2004. Flashing it at the dealer wont fix it. 05 Excursion's use the 2004 448k pcm aswell.
Well it appears I got the wrong PCM again! While flashing it, noticed it is a TBS5 instead of a TBS7. Oil pressure guage only working when rpm's are above 2000. No power and shifting as if its in tow haul. Learned a valuable lesson, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!
