R12 compressor oil? E6Dh compressor
Thanks for all the help
Anna
I am glad I decided to replace the whole system. This van had sat for possibly 10 to 15 years. I was looking down inside of the old suction hose and it is coated in rust, not black, but rust... Cleaning would have done no good at all..
I just hope the new compressor is in good shape. The instructions say to drain the old oil and to do that you have to install the clutch plate and rotate the compressor by hand, it would not budge. I sent it back and ordered another. IT arrived yesterday and it too "would not" budge. It did after I took it to the parts store and used a fan clutch removal tool (they didn't have the ac clutch tool) that would hook onto the clutch plate. IT was fairly hard to turn for the first few turns but finally eased up enough to turn with two hands. Now after many turns it will turn with one hand.. I read some articles saying that was normal for one that had been sitting on the shelf for over a year. Had to do with the coating on the materials during assembly..
I hope that is true..
I am going to fill it up with oil again and turn it by hand a few more times and see if anything unusual comes out in the oil when I flush it again..
Anyway thanks again and i should have been the one to buy the beer since I was asking the questions!
