I have a 2000 ranger 4x4 xlt with 3.0 v6 the transmission went out on me about a month ago (think it's the pump because it slips in every gear) this truck has a 4r44e transmission I've read about the problems and heard that these transmissions have a lot of problems I want to replace it with something else but I just want to be able to throw it in. if I have to I'll make mounts also I'm currently going through college and don't have a lot of extra money. I'm looking for options that would work any input is appreciated
If you're on a budget then just get the stock trans fixed/rebuilt. As far as I know there is no "just throw it in" replacement trans. Other option is to go 5spd but you have to change pedals and whatnot.
I've already thought about Changing to a five speed and I can get everything to put it in for about half what a shop would charge to rebuild the stock one I'm just looking for ideas on something that I can just swap out I want to get away from the 4r44e trans

Trust me on this: If you want a five-speed, buy a truck that already has a five speed. By the time you spend weeks chasing parts, your "savings" will be long gone.
