My wife and I are dabbling on looking at new or new to me next vehicle purchase. We have an Escape on the list as we don't know what we are going to do with our Explorer yet. She feels if the Explorer goes, a smaller SUV would be an appropriate replacement. So we have everything on the table right now. New, Used, Preowned Certified. We test drove a used Escape SE on Saturday. It was a 13 MY, 2.0 EB engine and had the sun roof. Ok vehicle. Nothing to write home about since was pretty basic vehicle. Engine was definitely peppy though. My wife liked the sunroof.
Right now on the list if where to replace the current Explorer, we have an Escape.

If you own an Escape or were to purchase one, what trim level would you go to? What options or packages would you have preferred if you had to do it all over again?
We bought a 2015 platinum level, the only thing I wish it had was air conditioned seats, we live in the desert so that is a very nice luxury to have. It has the 2.0 eco boost, which does very well on power but I thought the mileage would be better honestly. 18-19 in town and 25-26 on road trips, but we also don't baby it either.
I did the first oil change this weekend, you have to pull a cover off to get to the pan and filter, about 8 screws to drop it. It appears to help direct the air up and around the engine. Overall nice car, even at 6' - 2" I have enough room. I still prefer my truck, but the car has been good to.
