Im looking at putting a different headliner in my 99 crew cab super duty. What im wondering is, what are the differences between the old super duty's and the newer ones? Say 2012 or so. Has anyone done a headliner swap in these things? I have to replace my windshield anyway so getting it out of the truck will not be an issue. Thanks in advance for the help.
The basic cab for each style (regular cab, super cab and crew cab) are the same from 1999-2016, so I would imagine that the headliner should be pretty easily swapped between years.

Thats the same way I was thinking. I didnt know if the interior trim pieces were going to line up the same or not. Just looking to see if anyone had done this and had some first hand experience to pass on.
Sure will. I think I am going to be ordering one from a 2012. Im thinking about adding the overhead consol also. Ill keep this updated unless someone else chimes in and shows what they've done.
At a minimum you will need the newer style A-pillar pieces to match or you will be left with a gap where it meets the headliner. Physically it will bolt in, but you will likely need quite a few other pieces to make it work (grab handles, upper trim panels, etc.).
I have everything out of a 2012 waiting to go in my 07...even with all the pieces it is a chore. Good luck and keep this thread updated
I found the liners can very a little even in the same model year. I replaced a rear window in a 12 cc from a fixed to a manual slider. The liner was a little to long in the back across the top of the window because the slider is thicker. Slight cutting and tucking allowed it to fit fine.
Ill definitely let you guys know if Im going through with it. If I change the pillar trims, they wont line up with the dash any more right? That may be ok because I plan to do a dash swap in the future anyway. Im going to compare pictures of the newer style and older style and see if this is even something I want to get into.
