Our 05 Navigator needs a new cover for the passenger side mirror. I've seen the chrome covers on ebay and amazon, but I can't tell if those just stick to the existing factory cover. I don't have a cover at all on the passenger side. I'm hoping to not have to spend $200 on a whole mirror assembly to get the cover. Is there a place to get just the factor cover? Or will the chrome ones work without the factor cover there?
I would just get a replacement from a salvage yard. Not sure if the cover comes off or not but my guess is yes as it is painted body color and not the black plastic like the rest of the mirror.

There is a retainer clip that holds it in place. I had a cover get ripped off going through a car wash, which also broke the retainer. Instead of replacing it I placed a couple strips of Scotch Extreme Mounting Tape on it which is both weather-resistant and double-sided. No matter what the weather, that cover never came off again, even when going through the car wash.

Sweet, then I will order the aftermarket covers. The mirrors assemblies are like $200+, I don't want to spend that kind of money to just get a cover. The mirror on the truck folds and adjusts perfectly, it's just missing the cover.
