mirror cover

I got in an accident about a week ago and tore my passenger side mirror off. I've found some used mirrors for pretty cheap but I can't find one that has a tan cover (to match my truck). If I get one painted a different color, can the cover be taken off and repainted? Truck is an 02 ext cab f150
