test your knowledge - take a guess on these codes
p1000 ODBC readiness incomplete
p0306 cylinder 6 misfire detected
p0275 cylinder 5 contributation balance
p0278 cylinder 6 contributation balance
p0284 cylinder 8 contributation balance
I was able to clear the 5, and 8 codes but still have the cylinder 6 codes.
engine will run for about 2 minutes and then a wrench light
if I shut the truck off, turn the key to start the fuel pump, but wait 5 seconds...truck will start and run with no wrench light for 2 minutes..then wrench light....I can repeated this and behavior is predictable.
I havent tried to drive it.
no smoke, fuels, weird guage readings....engine idles with an obvious 1 cylinder mis.
its in the shop now
there is no metal in the fuel filters.....but my guess is the high presure fuel pump (only becuase of the multi cylinder codes, if it was just cylinder 8, I would lean towards injector).
prior to this...I had what I suspected was the begining of worn rocker indications....the low sounding level thump in the intake and occasional lifter noise.
I always wanted to know and in hind sight, maybe I should have shopped around. Put my truck in the shop to get an estimate for repairs that I might not be able to get to for a while.
hourly rate is $140
initial diagnostic is $159 (0 if I elect to do the work.)
Towing for 5 miles was $95.
You an ignore the p1000, common when there are multiples. Not an indication of anything.
I am thinking injectors.
Who is looking into it? A ford dealer? If someone else, those fuel lines and such are one time use only.
It's at ford right now .
I Don't know how much this will cost yet....hourly rates plus these one time use parts that may need to come off will certainly drive the price up.
I'm thinking I should ask for the old parts so it's clear they were in fact replaced.
local ford still has not gotton to it yet and they are not sure when they will be able to get to it.
nearest other ford is 1 state away.
i've already paid 255 to get this towed home...then 95 to get it towed to the nearest ford...so not excited to pay more towing to another ford....have the feeling this truck is going to wind up being towed back to my house.
