Thoughts on this?
Anyone ever use this website, or know if this will fit right length wise on my 85 straight 6? I'm pretty much looking for the most afforadble ds2 harness without getting a used one or making one. Thanks.
And it won't fit well for all engines because the sending units are in very different locations - as I say here: Engine Swaps - Gary's Garagemahal
That looks like and aftermarket Painless Wiring Durasaprk II ignition wire harness. I personally used one before I found the proper OEM Ford Duraspark II wire harness from a junkyard.
Thoughts:
That harness does work, but it will not fit neatly without trimming. The wires are made long enough to fit *all* engines, so there may or may not be longer wire than what you actually need.
This harness uses a generic ceramic block for the ballast resistor, whereas Ford used a ballast resistor wire in the truck's main wire harness for all 1980 - 1986 gas engines.
This harness does not have a provision for a tachometer like the OEM Ford harness has. So if you have a stock tach, you will have to wire it in a different way.
Again, it does work, but it is not a simple "plug and play" like the OEM harness is. Therefore, it will not look like a factory application. I just couldn't live with that for my truck, but I also just spent over $5000 on a total restoration. Your requirements may be different if you don't have OCD like I do.
