So I pulled the IDM out and tested the continuity of the injectors and all of them got around 2.9 ohms- 3.1 Ohms. They buzz loudly and equal with the buzz test. I also acquired a P0476 Exhaust Back Pressure valve code? The EBP reading in AE are 14.9 PSI and .92 volts at idle? Is that what causes the code or is it the actual butterfly valve that is supposed to be in the turbo area? I have an aftermarket ATS turbo that I know nothing about. I also put in two brand new batteries and it starts right up and runs great with the exception of the check engine light when I accelerate when its cold. I still get the P1271 and P1275 codes when I do a buzz test and the P1316 IDM code when I scan for faults. I am thinking maybe I have a bad IDM even though it was newly rebuilt according to the guy I bought it from? Should I replace the IDM and see if that fixes the problem? My other question is do I need a special IDM or have anything flashed if I have aftermarket stage 1 single shot injectors? I feel like I am getting closer to fixing this problem that has been bothering me for a while.
I had some decent smoke on start up when I got my truck and it had an intermittent miss at idle but no CEL. I ran 4x the normal dose in half a tank of fuel and it cleared up everything in 150 miles. Didn't notice any smoke the last couple times I've started it in the 40's.
Sorry I didn't see the first sentence of your reply that said Diesel Kleen, I feel stupid. I normally run diesel kleen in every tank I have just never run 4x. I may give that a try. Thanks
Might try a quart or 2 of ATF, but keep the receipts handy since the dye is the same stuff they use for off-road diesel. If you get checked and can't convince them it's not un-taxed fuel that'll be pretty expensive. ATF has a lot of detergents in it, but is otherwise a light oil just like diesel.
The b20 requirement here in MN is likely the cause of our gunked up fuel systems. Too much sugar in that crap. Even our truck stops don't have straight #2 anymore.
Running heavy detergents for a bit will at least help rule out leaking or sticky injector. I was getting great fuel mileage despite fogging out the neighborhood when starting it up. Yesterday the only smoke I saw was black and I was looking for it.
