Rear Leaf Spring upgrade for 1999 drw

Getting ready to start camper season and recently upgraded to 2013 xlr380 toy hauler. I started suspension upgrades of air bags and new Monroe shocks on all four corners. Truck has just cracked the 100k on odometer and had original 1999 shocks! Thr mechanic installing the shocks and airbags showed me how the rear leaf springs were flat and suggested I find some new leaf springs to get the truck ready for the heavy towing.

What is the best plug and play option for rear leaf springs on a 99 drw crew cab with air bags? Can i install f450 leafs? Add helpers? Tr uck currently has VC springs, 5200 front, 8250 rear. 4.10 gears and is 4x4.

Suggestions?

I don't know how they would handle shipping out to you but these guys are local to me and really know their stuff. They can tweak your standard spring stack if you need it too.

Walleye beat me to it, haha.

I'm guessing you don't want a direct replacement? You could go with a true Heavy Duty leaf spring but I'm not going to lie, they are a heavy spring. We usually give those springs to guys who have constant weight on the rear all the time and a lot of it. Or we can build something to your liking. Nice thing is you definitely have options so that's always a plus.

Feel free to send me a message or give us a call, we can definitely talk things over and see what we can do for you!

I can vouch for ATS. I went with their intermediate springs on the rear this past fall. Stock on a single rear wheel are rated at 3100lbs and they had an intermediate set rated at 3400lbs and then the HD's were 4400lbs (if I recall all of that correctly). I plow and salt in the winter and do some medium hauling a few times a year, but usually all other times I am running pretty empty as my truck is my daily driver. They warned me that those 4400lbers would be very stiff and are designed more for landscaping trucks that haul pallets of sod and stone so I went with the 3400lb set and couldn't be happier. The truck handles well when empty and with over a ton of salt in the bed, I wasn't quite to the helper springs this winter.

I had a leveling kit on the front and a 4 inch block in the rear to compensate with my stock rear springs. I had to go back down to a stock block in the rear to maintain a level stance because the intermediates had a nicer arch to them. I was running 315's and have since dropped down to a 305 so they provide a nice enough lift to fit 35's comfortably with the stock block. Very easy to deal with on the phone. I am in Maryland and if I had placed the order about 20 minutes before I did, I would have had them the next day. I imagine it would only be a 2 or 3 day wait to Indiana at most.

I will be sending you a PM in hopes you can help me with a 1976 E350 or E450 class C camper suspension parts. Glad to know we have you as a sponsor here on FTE.
