When you talk on your smart phone it spies on you as well-- if you say toilet paper-- boom you start seeing ads for toilet paper--- Funny story I needed a gag gift fr a friend 's birthday I sent him a blow up novelty sheep--- I used my wifes computer because I was repairing mine at the time-- You can only guess at the adds she got for the next 6 mos-- It was really funny! (she didn't think so)

Its also frustrating that the things I look up at work, on a separate login, and email address, follow my personal emails and FB at home. If I search for SAE wrenches on my work PC, it has somehow linked my personal email address with my work one, and I get advertisements for SAE wrenches in my email and on my FB.
We did an experiment, setting 4 smart phones in the middle, then we talked about random stuff, and pulled up our facebook accounts and started seeing advertisements about what we were just talking about. It's scary..

They used to say, long time ago, that the gov was spying on you through your TV, back when it wasn't really a thing, only theory mostly.
Now people rush out to buy devices that spy on them, cell phones, Alexa's, Google.. etc..

Personally don't care-- if they want to see me walk around my house in my undies-- all power to um! When I get old and cranky-- (ok ok o;lder and crankier) I might care-- but for now-- blah.

When they use the info for advertising things that are personalized, that is kind of disturbing, but when they get to the point where they are personalizing all of your media, to warp your mind to leaning one direction, or the other with fake propaganda, and fake news.. its just too much..
