Hey people,
My boss gave me a 2002 f150 if i can get it started. No key and no paper work in order to get licksmith to replace key. The only way i have noticed to get it started is to drill through cylinder to get it out. Does anybody have any other suggestions how to get it goin? Shadetree methods are welcome. Thank you very much
My boss gave me a 2002 Ford F150 if I could get it running I don't have the paperwork to get a locksmith out make the key the only way I've noticed is to drill through the cylinder is anybody have any other suggestions to get it going shade tree methods would be welcome thank you
you better get the serial number and have the dealer make a key from records...... Just "any" lock or key will not work.. You need the factory key that matches the record in the computer PATS system.. If you bust the lock out, buy a new key and lock, it still will not start. ......... will need the dealer to reprogram.
Is not having a key the only thing keeping it from starting? A dealership can cut you a new set of keys and program them if you get proof of ownership. $ince it is a PATS key, they will clear all former keys and start over with 2 new key$.
Read up on the PATS key system. Even if you get the ignition lock busted, you will still have to have a correctly programmed "chip" key to make the engine computer work.
If it is legally yours, the best thing to do is to wait for the title and get a locksmith or dealership to make you new keys. Anything else will affect the resale value and reliability.
I know that is not really what you asked or what you want to hear but in my opinion that is the best way to use that truck. Either that or part it out.
